What is Environmental Design?

Sometimes people have a hard time pinning down exactly what Environmental Design is. This is understandable because we wear several hats. We study and design buildings like architects and contractors. We can design indoor and outdoor spaces like interior designers and landscape architects. We even use design software like graphic designers. Environmental Design is a wide ranging discipline, but there is one aspect that unites us all. We are empathetic designers. We believe that environmental and societal problems can be solved with design and critical thinking. We care about the world around us and want to change it for the better whether that be fixing climate change or sparking development in a city. Our various skills make us qualified for an assortment of jobs. We can be city planners, graphic designers, project managers, interior designers, or entrepreneurs to name a few. No matter what position we hold, we always strive to do our best and leave a place a little better than when we found it.
